Does HIV/AIDS qualify for a medical card in New Jersey?
Yes. The New Jersey Medicinal Cannabis Program (MCP) lists Positive status for HIV / AIDS as a qualifying condition. A New Jersey-licensed provider still has to evaluate you and agree that cannabis is appropriate.

How to get certified in New Jersey
- See a New Jersey practitioner registered with the program (in person or by telehealth) to confirm a qualifying condition.
- The practitioner registers you and gives you a registry ID number and reference number.
- Create an account on the patient portal (njmmp.nj.gov) using those two numbers.
- Upload proof of New Jersey residency and a passport-style photo taken within the last 60 days.
- Choose the dispensary (Alternative Treatment Center) you plan to use, and pick a free digital ID or a $10 physical card.
