7 things to know about New Jersey's medical marijuana program
New Jersey's Medicinal Cannabis Program is run by the Cannabis Regulatory Commission, which also oversees adult-use sales. A registered New Jersey practitioner (MD, DO, PA or nurse practitioner) confirms one of the state's listed conditions and enters the patient into the system, which creates a registry ID and reference number. The patient then finishes registering online with a photo and proof of residency. Registration is free; only a physical ID card costs $10. Patients get state sales-tax-free purchases, priority service and a higher limit than adult-use buyers. Visitors from other states can get a temporary six-month card.
