Oklahoma medical marijuana FAQ: answers from the official program
Answers to the questions Oklahoma patients ask most, based on the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Program's own guidance.
Do I need a specific condition to qualify in Oklahoma?
No. Oklahoma does not publish a list of qualifying conditions. A physician in good standing who is registered with OMMA decides whether to sign your recommendation.
Can I get my Oklahoma recommendation through a telehealth visit?
Yes. OMMA permits virtual appointments, as long as neither the physician nor the patient is at a dispensary during the visit.
How much does an Oklahoma medical marijuana license cost?
The standard patient license is $100 plus a card processing fee. Patients on Medicaid/SoonerSelect or Medicare, and 100% disabled veterans, pay $20. Caregiver licenses are free.
How long does it take OMMA to approve a license?
OMMA says it processes patient license applications within 14 business days. Missing or unclear documents can slow things down.
Can I grow cannabis at home with an Oklahoma license?
Yes. Licensed patients may keep up to six mature plants and six seedlings on property they own or have written permission to use, and the plants must not be visible from the street.
I have a medical card from another state — can I buy in Oklahoma?
Yes, if you get a temporary out-of-state license from OMMA. It lasts up to 30 days and does not require an Oklahoma physician recommendation.
