How to become a medical marijuana caregiver in Illinois
Caregivers must be 21 or older and may assist only one patient; an adult patient may have up to three caregivers. Caregiver cards cost $25, $50 or $75 for one, two or three years.
Who needs a caregiver
A caregiver buys, carries and gives cannabis to a registered patient who can't easily do it themselves — often because of age, mobility or a serious illness. In Illinois, the patient must be registered first and then designates the caregiver.
Caregivers for minors
Minors can be registered under a separate minor-patient application, with a parent or legal guardian serving as designated caregiver. Minor-patient fees are the same as regular adult fees.
