Hawaii medical card vs. recreational: is a card worth it?
Hawaii has no recreational market — a medical card is the only legal way to buy.
What changes with a card
- Taxes: Patients often pay less tax than recreational buyers; check the state's current rates.
- Limits: Up to 4 ounces of usable cannabis (shared between patient and caregiver)
- Age: patients can qualify from 18 (younger with a caregiver); recreational is 21+.
- Cost of the card: $38.50 state fee + our evaluation from $79, only if approved.
