7 things to know about Colorado's medical marijuana program
Colorado's Medical Marijuana Registry is run by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment under a 2000 constitutional amendment. A provider sees the patient in person, then submits a certification electronically to the registry. The patient finishes the online application and pays a $52 fee. Most complete applications are approved in one to three business days, and the card is downloaded rather than mailed. The state separates 'debilitating' conditions, which only MDs and DOs can certify, from 'disabling' conditions, which dentists and advanced practice providers can also certify. Patients aged 18 to 20 face extra requirements.
